This is a shower I did for a lady who had a beautiful baby boy named Jude. She mentioned wanting to do a nautical theme in his room so I figured if we made that the theme, she could use some of the props for his room afterward!
I thought it would be really fun to have a yarn wreath with a twist- wrapped to look like a life preserver. This is what came out of it.
In the front we set up a table with the prayer cards and boats to set the tone.
We set up a dessert table with different foods and props to give it a nautical feel. Being landlocked in sunny Albuquerque, I know virtually nothing about sailing. When I found out that there is a nautical alphabet, I knew we had to use it! For the backdrop, the flags were printed to say “Captain”.
We made Rice Crispy Treats and used the flags to spell “Jude”.
Using origami, I made these paper boats and used my Silhouette Machine to cut out the sails. We attached them with wooden skewers and filled them with Popcorn from Walker’s Popcorn.
We also served yogurt with raspberries.
I decided I wanted to do something a little different and incorporate a life preserver onto the food table. In order to do that, I found a flat, round styrofoam piece and wrapped it in red and white ribbon. We placed strawberries and white chocolate covered strawberries on the coordinating color, adding another dimension to the life preserver.
We served caramel dipped apples cut into boats and inserted sails using toothpicks.
The cake was made by PS I Love you Cakes and was just adorable.
Saw this little gem and thought it was awesome!
