Last January I had the honor doing a football themed baby shower for a first-time mother. She was having a boy and wanted pizza served at her shower. I figured that if she wanted pizza, why not do a football theme and serve other foods you would serve at a football party- with a bit of a twist?
So the first thing we did was find out her favorite football team (the New York Giants) and used their colors as a starting point. We fashioned the initials of the babies name after the NY Giants logo and added it to the backdrop. I don’t think any football party table is complete without a goal post. We hung fun bunting to add visual interest. My awesome sauce hubby also made the trophy for the table.
For food we served lots of yummy dishes. Perhaps the most important was the pizza dish. We HAD to make sure that was included. To give it a different spin, we served football pizza pockets with pizza sauce.
In addition, we served “Playbook cake” (made by DeAnna Gonzales), “Kick’n” Whiskey BBQ Sliders, “Bomb” Puppy Chow, “First Down” Fruit Pizzas (shaped like footballs of course!), “Touchdown Queso”, “Field Goal” Wings and Dip (from Buffalo Wild Wings- but this recipe looked yummy), “Off Sides” Guacamole and Chips, “Playoff” Subs, and veggies.
While looking for printables to use one the table, I fell in love with the vintage ones made by Hello My Sweet. The best part about them? They will customize your colors so you can use it for whichever team you want!
On the drinks table we served “Kick’n” Root beer, “Official” Water and “1st and 10” Fruit Punch.
For this table we made a custom football stadium sign with “Metlife Stadium” (Giants Stadium) at the top and the babies due date across the bottom. We made the sign and pennant banners to go with the theme.
It was a sweet shower for a sweet friend! So happy she let me be a part of it!
